Second Chance Revue:     Sept. 2010 and Feb. 2011

Picture
Our second cabaret type show, "Second Chance Revue" will be held on  Fri., Sept. 24, and Sat., Sept. 25 at 8;00 p.m.   This event was wildly received this past Feb., and will have a new theme, as well as new performers from all over the Boston area This great show gives us a "second chance" to hear from our favorite musicals and experience comedy, drama, and love through song.   To get your ticket information, visit here.
We will also be having another "Second Chance Revue" in Feb. 2011----on Fri., Feb. 25 and Sat., Feb. 26 at 8:00 p.m.

Fall Farce:   Charley's Aunt     November 2010

Picture

Jack and Charley, undergraduates at Oxford, have each fallen in love.  But without a chaperone, they can't meet their girls, Amy and Kitty.  Luckily, Charley's Aunt from Brazil ("where the nuts come from") is coming for a visit.  The girls are invited and all is well until...

The aunt is delayed, they force Lord Babberly into a dress, and the girls arrive.  What could possibly go wrong?

Charley's Aunt, the gold standard for British Farce, is a wild ride of mistaken identity, witty dialogue, and slapstick humor.  Auditions will be at the end of July.  The show dates are November 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20 @ 7:30 and November 13 @ 1pm.

Children's Theatre:    Alice in Wonderland    February  2011

Picture
The Childrens Theater presents the musical, "Alice In Wonderland" Jr.   This delightful story by Lewis Carroll has been made into a musical and adapted by Disney.   This terrific version features the music from that Disney musical.    The auditions for this musical will be on Thurs., Oct. 7th at 3:30-6:30 and on Sat., Oct. 9 at noon until 3:00, and will be for children and teens from ages 8 through 18.   E-mail Shawn at thecannontheatre@gmail.com for an audition time.   Prepare 16 measures of music from a musical and then there will be a cold read from the script.

The show will open on Thurs., Feb. 3, 2011, and continue on Feb. 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Spring Musical:    By Jeeves     April 2011

Picture
The Spring Musical for 2011 will be 'By Jeeves" a musical adapted by Alan Aykbourne, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  This fun musical was based on the stories by PG Wodehouse---about a spoiled young man, Wooster,  that is born into wealth and priviledge, but always seems to get himself into trouble.   Thank goodness that he has a rather insightful butler, Jeeves, that tends to make everything go just the way he wants!    The auditions for this musical will be at the beginning of January 2011, and the show dates are March 31, April 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. and April 9 at 1:00 p.m.

Spring Classic:    Arsenic and Old Lace     May/June 2011

Picture
Our Spring Classic is a play that is an old favorite, and is not to be missed.   We are doing "Arsenic and Old Lace", that funny madcap black comedy from Joseph Kesselring.  This slapstick play, with murderous aunts compassionately serving up elderberry wine to elderly gentlemen and with their crazy nephew assisting by burying the unfortunate victims, is a delightful romp, where every character has a secret!  The auditions are at the beginning of April, 2011 and the show will run May 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, June 2, 3, 4 at 7:30 and May 28 at 1:00 p.m.  (NOTE THE DATE CHANGES FROM THE SEASON MAGNETS!)
